Academic & Personal Projects

CubeSat deployable radiator
🛰️ CubeSat 12U - Deployable Radiator System
Thermal Design

Challenge: Design a deployable thermal radiator for a 12U CubeSat maintaining batteries between -5°C and +25°C.

Key Achievements: Thermal analysis (hot/cold cases) using Lambert's law & Stefan-Boltzmann. Radiator dimensioning: 0.61 m² (cold case critical). Deployment mechanism: torsion springs. Locking system selection via decision matrix (retractable rod chosen). Thermal regulation: Copper hinge, heat pipes.

🎯🏁 Aircraft Component (APF) Lifting Tool

Project Overview: Led the design of specialized tooling for handling a 300 kg aircraft component (APF), from concept to costed solution. Delivered a validated design meeting all operational and safety standards.

Cost Management: Final project cost evaluated at €27,800, achieving target with a 7% margin through use of machining cost calculators and realistic hourly rate analysis.

Engineering Process: From initial Concept to final design, the project followed a rigorous engineering workflow: Concept → CAD → FEA Validation (RDM7/CATIA) → Design Iteration → Technical Specification.
